Dark Web & Cryptocurrency Laundering Training: This class is 3 hours in length and is intended as a basic, fundamental course on the Dark Web & Cryptocurrency.

Course Description:  Basic course to familiarize WA State law enforcement  and  prosecutors with the Dark Web/Deep Web and Cryptocurrency methods of operation.  Intravaia hired five professional Dark Web & Cryptocurrency users to train us.  Focus was on how not to use the markets and not be caught by LE.  Two of the users were clearly criminals.  This supplemented the knowledge and experiences we have gained from working cases for the private sector involving the Dark Web.  

Instructor will demonstrate and identify programs utilized to create legitimate cryptocurrency accounts, launder cryptocurrency, gain access to "markets" and how to search various markets, make purchases by engaging in cryptocurrency laundering to anonymously purchase illegal items such as opioids—including prescription pain relievers, heroin, and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl as well as cocaine, steroids, guns etc...  Shipping items to locations and recovery of related physical evidence. 


Course content includes:

·  Scene analysis & assessment

·  Interviewing 

·  Crime lab resources

·  Case reviews and analysis: Edward Snowden, and Gal Vallerius "OxyMonster"

·  Search warrants & affidavits: financial records, cryptocurrency websites 

·  S.1241 - Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and Counterfeiting Act of 2017115th Congress (2017-2018)

Equipment: Preferred but not necessary: agency laptop computer which attendee has administrator privileges to download programs, such as Tor (The Onion Router) program.   

Course is open to law enforcement, prosecutors, and military as well as private sector.

Objective: Provide LE (patrol and detectives) & prosecutors with an understanding & knowledge base needed to identify, conduct the most effective, complete, and thorough investigations involving the clandestine use of the Dark Web & Cryptocurrency and criminal conduct associated.  Identification of cases where the Dark Web & Cryptocurrency was utilized for but not limited to : purchase drugs, guns, financial records, human trafficking, and stolen credentials.  Discussion will focus on locating all possible electronic evidence as well as key admissions or confessions with the goal of initiating the strongest case possible for the prosecutor's office and at the same time combating any defense work conducted after discovery.  This will also include discussion of 3.5 and 3.6 hearings and their functions.
